Sharpe smiled. "They're not so bad. I've been sent on worse. As I said, we saw little action. Good thing, too. If we'd come across a considerable force, we wouldn't be able to do much as only two men -- don't matter our skill."

"Mmmm, I don't know. I've been surprised a few times at what just one or two men could do." She smiled at him, "But I'm glad you're back safely."

"They gave us points, eh?" He informed her as they walked. "Not sure what good they are or what a man can purchase with'em. But there you are."

"Well, maybe something will come up and they'll be of use."

whoops! prose.

[greenjacketed]

"Say you went on their missions, Sergeant Carpenter. What would you save up for?"

Smoooooth, Sharpe. So smooth.

I saw nothing

"Me? Probably one of those stickers," she shook her head. "Not that they're guaranteed to work. So I'm not sure, really."

And here they were, at the door.

And all at once, Sharpe knew what he wanted to save up his points for. With an almost enigmatic smile, he offered the woman another stiff bow.

"Have a fine day, Molly."

"You too, Major," she said, burying her nose is the scentless flowers, and peering up at him.
