[Action: Locked to Pepper Potts]

Molly wakes up warm, which was good, and wearing an unfamiliar sundress, which was bad, and in an unfamiliar house, which was worse. She immediately stood up from the floor and headed to the first door she saw, but was distracted by catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror.

She had wings.

Golden wings.

Wings.

Molly went white as a sheet. "Am I... dead?"

[After being convinced that she was not dead, and finding a book with her name on it, and being told all sorts of things about the place where she was that Molly was not completely certain she believed, she decided to make an announcement.]

Hello, my name is Molly Carpenter. I'm told that I can talk into this book and that people all over this city can hear me, so I'm sorry for interrupting. [Not really, but she was raised to be polite.] I'm from Chicago, and I'm thirteen years old [she's not, she's lying] and I'm also told that there's a chance that there are people from my world here. So... if there's anyone out there who knows me, I'd appreciate if you'd let me know. That's all, I guess. Thanks.

[And she ends the transmission but stares very hard at the book, like she's waiting for her mother or father to suddenly start to speak through it.]

[Today, Molly is on a mission. She is raiding the Item Shop. It. Is. Going. Down. She can be seen tearing through the modest toy section and pondering for a long time over a set of Legos. She can also be found in the paints-and-dyes section. And staring far too speculatively at bleach for anyone who knows her to be truly comfortable.

In the end, she'll leave the store with a packet full of jacks, along with any other toy she's been convinced to consider, some dark blue and red dye, and... yes, some bleach.

In the afternoon, she makes a voice post.]

Hey, everyone and anyone - here's a question about your wings. I know they're sensitive to all the usual things, but who's tried dye? Or... bleach? Because I'm getting tired of wearing the colors that someone else picked out for me.

[But she has plans for twilight - a special time of balance and with what she had in mind? She could use all the help she could get. She'll be in the room in her apartment she's designated as her workshop, meditating in preparation for the magical experiment she was about to perform.]
talentsgirl: (A Cup of Tee-Hee)
[Molly debated, but in the end, didn't lock this post from Harry. It was as good as a note slipped under his door, really.]

Hey, Luceti, here's a crazy question. Does anyone know the best path up to the mountains? I hear there's a lake up there I'd like to see. And does the Welcome Center keep those really good maps in stock, the ones that are a bit more in detail than the one in the journal?

And here's a slightly less crazy question - if there's anyone feel like filling in an inquiring mind and have a chat over a cold one, I'd love to know some more about these missions everyone keeps going on. Even if it was about the more recent one, or about one of the ones we can sign up for, there's nothing like first hand experience. I'll be in the Good Spirits from 1-3 if there's any takers.

[And that is exactly where she will be, sitting at the bar or on one of the tables, looking friendly over a cold one... which will originally be an iced tea. She may upgrade, depending on the conversation and the conversate-ee.

After her time in the Good Spirits, hopefully chatting with friendly, informative folk and if not spent poured over a very old-looking book and a village map (hopefully someone will help her get her hands on one of the Nami editions), she'll head to the Item Shop and finish picking out her camping gear. After being exposed to some serious bad news magic, she hasn't been quite herself. And this dusty old book and a remembered conversation with Shiro once upon a time has given her an idea.]

[So, after a month or so of study in shifts and things that mess with brains, Molly's ready to try an experiment. She attempts to say each of these in their regular languages: Spanish, Latin, French, and Chinese. All she gets for her efforts are a few words squeaking through Luceti's translation and a headache.]

I'm going to habla en Spanish.

Next to try nonnullus Latin.

I don't know many words in French but here it goes: belle, thanks, Camembert.

...Kung Pao Chicken.

[She waits a bit for the headache to fade and then makes a general post.]

Two months in this place, and I feel like I'm still just getting my feet wet. I know everyone's getting adjusted with this whole new 'cycle,' but I wonder if a few people wouldn't mind answering a question: What language am I speaking right now?

[And in a bit, Molly will blow off her normal time at the library to enjoy the warm day and glorious weather in a pair of stonewashed cut-off shorts that are just a bit too short and a plain white men's T-shirt. She's roaming in and out of town, until eventually she finds a good hill to meditate on. Two months? Caution's getting thin. It's time to try and contact one of these filial spirits and just... start talking.]
talentsgirl: (The Young Apprentice)
[Today Molly Carpenter is in your community buildings, exploring the floors and kitchens and opening (hopefully unoccupied!) random doors. Why is she doing this? She's not quite settled that Community Building Six is the best place for her and Harry to be, so far away from town, and collect evidence to present her case. Also - hey, strolling down someone's apartment corridor could be a great way to meet people!

And secretly, she's looking for thresholds. It makes sense that there aren't any here - five years, at most, being kept in a place against your will - could that even form a threshold? She didn't know, but it was so terribly contrary to her understanding of magic that she had to investigate.

Later in the day, a series of filters starting at 5 and not working their way up past 15 percent will appear in the journal followed by a voice post.]

Cut for filters tests )

Hi! So. Sorry if anyone bothered with that. I'm trying to get the hang of this "filtering" thing but it's just not like anything I've ever done before. If a couple wouldn't mind putting up some really low, easy filters in this post against me, I'd really appreciate it. That way I could try to sort of... learn it backwards? Thanks.

[Molly woke up on her side, in pain, and cold.

That's strange. I wasn't asleep a moment ago. Was I?

Also, her brain felt fuzzy. That wouldn't do. Deep breaths, Molly, and she remained still and safe for a moment - movement was a tell, and until she had her focus back she wasn't going to do anything until she was sure she could hide. Then slowly, Molly sat up.]

Woah.

[She was on top of a tree house. In what looked like a tree village, no less. And where the heck were her clothes?]

Let me guess. I'm not in Kansas anymore.

[Molly twisted around to try to see the source of pain on her back, only for bright pink to meet her eye - a single pink wing! With a blue one to match. Oh. Hahahahahaha, this must be a dream. She gave a light tug on one of her wings and the dull pain turned into a shooting one which made her grit her teeth against the sudden flare behind her eyes. OK, girl. The wings stay on. And if this was an illusion, it was a hell of one to sustain that much pain. She glanced around, found, and opened the journal.

Huh.]

...a magic book with my name on it. That's not at all suspicious. Well, I guess I'm already through the looking glass...

Hello, in the book! I'm looking for a white rabbit, he was supposed to give me the time. Or maybe the place? Either way, I'm late for an important date.

[No time to say hello, goodbye... either way, she couldn't sit around waiting for the magic book to talk back. Magic didn't work that way. And it was still here, she could feel it humming but... faint. And very much like it was through a looking glass. Strange.

Either way, she wasn't one to just sit around in a tower - or a treehouse - and wait to be rescued. She held the book carefully opened by inserting one finger in it and closing the book around it in case of a response, not knowing that flashes of video could escape through it as well, and began to make her way down as best as she could in a dress entirely too short for her long legs and thin enough to hint at just how low the thorn tattoo starting high at her neckline curved down. Time to wander the forest in hope of... something. Some kind of clue or direction.]

[Part the Second: Or if you'd rather not rescue/inform a New Feather]

[Clothed in jeans a light jacket, and boots, one tall young lady is poking about all the shops in the square. Maybe you'll run into her there?]

Comments, critique, coconuts?

This is my first time playing Molly, and while I'm excited I'm also very nervous. Constructive critique is welcome!

Standard Meme:
Threadhopping with this character?: Yosh! I love a good threadhop.
Backtagging with this character?: Definitely! Though due to mun endurance, I'll just be up front and say that stuff two-three weeks old tends to get lost. So ping me!

Hugging this character?: If you know her or are anyone adorable under the age of ten, go ahead, or else she'd be a little startled.
Giving this character a kiss?: LOL - yes. Just be prepared for the consequences. She may kiss back. Or she may punch you. Or both!
☇(Something more intimate?): Deeeeeeeeepending on the circumstances. Ping me!
☇(Relationships?): Canonically, Molly is up the one-way romance street with her mentor, but that hasn't stopped her from going on dates and looking for alternatives yet. She's playing the long game with Harry, having pretty much accepted that he won't see her that way right now. So casual things might be in the cards, but you'll probably have a fight for all of her heart.

Punching this character (provided they can fight back): Who could punch this face? But, yes, nothing stopping it.
☇(Injury?): I like to talk out all these things, but it could certainly happen.
☇(Death?): Plot-pending, yes!

Is there anything you do not want mentioned near this character?: Molly is totally 4th Wallable, if your character would recognize her and/or her series. She'd get a huge kick out of it, probably. More importantly: Can she 4th Wall yours? 'cause she's kinda a pop culture reference machine...
